Playground Rubber, Artificial Grass, Epoxy and Polished Concrete in Southern California

Poured in place rubber is a seamless surface for playgrounds, splash pads, paths and rooftops. Thickness is set by the fall height of the equipment above it. Planning range: $15 to $25 per square foot.

Artificial grass covers lawns, pet runs, play areas, putting greens and HOA common areas, installed over a compacted, drained base. Planning range: $8 to $18 per square foot.

Epoxy floor coatings go on garages, shops, warehouses and commercial floors after the slab is ground and tested. Planning range: $5 to $12 per square foot.

Polished concrete and grinding turns an existing slab into a finished floor and removes lifted edges that cause trips. Planning range: $4 to $10 per square foot.

Caulking and sealants close joints and control water at slabs, walkways and walls. Planning range: $4 to $10 per linear foot.

These are planning ranges, not quotes. Slab condition, access, area size, color and the base work needed move a price up or down, and the cost guides explain how.

Homeowners. Backyards, side yards, pool decks, patios and garage floors. The usual goals are less water and mowing, a floor that cleans easily, or a safe place for kids and pets.

HOAs and apartment communities. Common area lawns, entries, play lots and walkways. Boards need written scopes, photos and numbers they can put in a packet. Civil Code section 5550 requires a reserve study at least every three years, and Civil Code section 4735 limits how far governing documents can go in banning artificial turf.

Schools, child care centers and parks departments. Playground surfaces, walking paths and courtyards. Publicly funded work follows California prevailing wage rules, and licensed child care centers must cushion the area under and around climbing equipment, swings and slides under Title 22, section 101238.2.

Churches and property managers. Entrances, courtyards, parking areas, halls and shared floors, scheduled around services and tenants.

General contractors and landscape designers. We work as a licensed, bonded and insured subcontractor and can send documentation early so it is ready when your project needs it.

1. Request an estimate. Tell us the surface, the approximate size and any approvals you need. We respond within 24 hours.
2. Site walk. Site walks are available the next day or later, depending on availability. We measure, look at drainage and slab condition, and ask about use and schedule.
3. Written scope. You receive a scope that lists the area, the materials, the base or slab preparation and the schedule, so you can compare bids on the same terms.
4. Installation. We plan around residents, school days, services and weather, and we keep the site safe and tidy while we work.
5. Closeout. A final walkthrough, care instructions and documentation. Warranty terms vary by product and system and are provided in writing with each estimate.

Turf rebates and artificial grass. The Metropolitan Water District's SoCalWaterSmart turf replacement program states that no synthetic turf is allowed, and most local programs follow it. Rebates pay for replacing living lawn with plants. Artificial grass is a separate decision that makes the most sense for play areas, pet runs and spaces where plants will not thrive. Wait for written approval before removing lawn if you plan to apply for a rebate.

AB 1572. California ends potable irrigation of nonfunctional turf on January 1, 2028 for commercial, industrial and institutional properties and on January 1, 2029 for HOA common areas. The law does not choose a replacement, so owners compare plants, recycled water and artificial grass for each area.

Child care. Title 22, section 101238.2 requires cushioning under and around climbing equipment, swings and slides at licensed centers. Our poured in place rubber thickness is set by equipment fall height.
